Feb. 3rd, 2007 @ 07:17 pm Not Coming Back Anytime Soon
Today I had my lungs x-rayed to see if I have pneumonia.

It looks "pretty good," the doctor said. There are only a "few spots," and they're "little."

She gave me Avelox, an antiobiotic I'd never heard of it. Oh, and she refilled my codeine cough syrup. The medications cost $50 even with insurance. Without it, these two medicines would been $300!!

So, anyway, I'm going back to my high... I mean, sleep. See ya when I wake up.

Get well soon, sweetheart! Take it easy and don't stress yourself out. And enjoy the drug. After all, you paid for them...

LOL. Thankfully, I only had to pay for *part* of them! And I get 100 percent of the benefit.

Thanks.

Ah well, as long as the "few spots" are "little..." I hope you feel better soon.

Awww ... so sorry to hear it. Clearly, someone DOES have a worse cough than I do ... rest up and take care of yourself.

Actually, my cough sounded very similar to yours. You sure you didn't have pneumonia?

Out, damn'd spot! out, I say!

Thank-you for pointing out the Paradox of Avelox - a fantastic antibiotic available only to the well insured or well heeled.

Hope you are feeling better.

Sad thought. I knew there were lots of expensive medicines, but I (naively) never dreamed some of them were antibiotics! I need to think more about how unbelievably wrong it is that you only get the medical treatment you need if you are (relatively) wealthy.

I have to say...I was totally charmed by your quote, both the idea that I have friends who quote Shakespeare and by how apropos it was.

Hey, you think YOU'VE got it bad, having to pay so much for the Rx. A friend of ours has had diarrhea for several weeks and nothing helped. He lost 32 pounds. Then the Dr prescribed a medication that cost my friend $500 for their copay! Otherwise, $2,000! Must have been worth it (credit card and all) because in 2 days the diarrhea was gone!! Story moral: don't get sick unless you are "well-heeled" as already mentioned.
